Le bourg de Saint-Andr\u00e9 16370 LOUZAC SAINT ANDR\u00c9<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019\u00e9glise Saint-Sulpice d\u00e9pend de la paroisse Notre-Dame-des-Borderies qui regroupe 7 clochers : Cherves, Richemont, Br\u00e9ville, Louzac, Saint-Andr\u00e9, Mesnac et Saint-Sulpice.<\/p>\n\n\n

La paroisse “Saint-Andrea de Combis’ est signal\u00e9e dans les textes anciens. Un sanctuaire pr\u00e9c\u00e9da l’\u00e9glise (fin 12e si\u00e8cle) puis l’implantation d’un prieur\u00e9 de l’ordre de Saint-Augustin cit\u00e9 au 14e si\u00e8cle. Ce prieur\u00e9-cure d\u00e9pendait de Saint-Vivien de Saintes. Les b\u00e2timents jouxtaient l’\u00e9glise qui fut exhauss\u00e9e pour cr\u00e9er un appartement au-dessus du ch\u0153ur. Les religieux rest\u00e8rent dans ces lieux jusqu’au 18e si\u00e8cle. Le clocher de plan carr\u00e9, accol\u00e9 au sud de l’\u00e9glise, peut dater du 15e si\u00e8cle. La sacristie qui suit \u00e0 l’est porte la date de 1685. Restaur\u00e9e en 1784 et au 19e si\u00e8cle, l’\u00e9glise fut ensuite refaite \u00e0 l’int\u00e9rieur en 1910-1911 : parois, vo\u00fbtes et pl\u00e2tre. Une simple nef de plan allong\u00e9 se terminait par une abside. Cette derni\u00e8re garde quelques \u00e9l\u00e9ments romans occult\u00e9s par les b\u00e2timents de l’ancien prieur\u00e9. Le portail ouest est \u00e0 trois voussures, les deux derni\u00e8res \u00e9tant sculpt\u00e9es de losanges et de pointes de diamant. Un enfeu a \u00e9t\u00e9 pratiqu\u00e9 \u00e0 gauche du portail. Deux statues encadrent la baie de la fa\u00e7ade. La nef est couverte d’un berceau bris\u00e9 en briques. La trav\u00e9e sous clocher est sur crois\u00e9e d’ogives. Le ch\u0153ur se termine par un cul de four. Il est pr\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 de colonnes engag\u00e9es au d\u00e9cor roman. (Infos Minist\u00e8re de la Culture)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
